The French term, 'plein air', meaning 'open air', is used to describe painting or drawing done outside, in the open air. Plein air painting began with the Impressionist artists of the late 1800s, a time when artists began to paint subject matter not normally seen: real people doing real, everyday things, and they came out of their studios into the open air to create their works.
Born and raised in Paris, Gandiol has been painting in this time-honored tradition for over 20 years here in the US. Pasisonate about his work, he captures light and color with generosity and skill. This exquisite collection of small paintings portray country life.
